FBI Agents Arrest Fugitive From Utah

Share

A man wanted on drug charges in Utah has been arrested by the FBI in Ventura, officials said Wednesday.

Agents took Pedro Adrian Carbello, 24, into custody Tuesday morning without incident after receiving a tip that he was working in Ventura, said Charlie J. Parsons, special agent in the Los Angeles office.

Narcotics investigators from Carbon and Emery counties in Utah arrested Carbello in 1992 on suspicion of selling cocaine. Shortly after the arrest, he was released from jail pending prosecution but fled before he could be brought to trial.

A federal warrant was issued for Carbello in March of this year for flight to avoid prosecution. FBI agents from the Salt Lake City office were tipped that Carbello was working in Ventura and notified agents in the Los Angeles office.

After his arrest at his workplace, Carbello was arraigned Wednesday before federal magistrate Judge Willard W. McEwen Jr. in Santa Barbara. He is being held without bail pending extradition to Utah, where he will be prosecuted.
