PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : NFC : NFL OKs Sanders’ Contract, but . . .
The NFL approved Deion Sanders’ contract with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday but said it circumvents the salary cap and must be restructured.
The conditional approval will allow Sanders to play with the Cowboys as soon as he is sound. Sanders is recovering from ankle surgery and is not expected to play until Oct. 29 in Atlanta at the earliest.
Meanwhile, his $35-million, seven-year deal will have to be redrawn to fit under the salary cap of $37.1 million per team.
The Cowboys scheduled a news conference for today to discuss the matter.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without receiver Desmond Howard (sprained left ankle), safety Darrin Carrington (groin pull) and linebacker Reggie Clark (torn knee ligament) when they play host to Chicago on Sunday.
