DISHARMONY: Diamond Bar City Councilman Clair Harmony is considering a run for for the Assembly seat of his former sparring partner, Republican Gary G. Miller.
The pair, who came to blows last year when both were serving on the City Council, could bring a whole new meaning to a political fight in next March’s Republican primary.
Miller, who beat five other candidates in May to serve out the term of recalled Assemblyman Paul Horcher, said he is not about to relinquish the seat.
The long-simmering feud between Miller and Harmony came to a head last year when Miller hurled his colleague across the conference table during a closed council session dispute. Harmony called it assault but Miller argued he was provoked.
“If he promises to keep his hands to himself, I might debate him,” Harmony said.
Harmony has been accused of “body-slamming” Miller’s political ally, Mayor Phyllis Papen, and striking another of the assemblyman’s supporters.
