4 Men Sought in Robbery at Somis Market

Share

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said they were searching for four men who held up an employee of the Somis Market on Friday afternoon.

The men confronted a store clerk behind the market as she got in her car on the way to make a bank deposit, authorities said. At least one of the suspects brandished a handgun before they made off in a white van with $10,000 in cash, officials added.

“It’s usually somebody who has a little background,” said Sgt. Steve Hunt. “We’re looking into the possibility that someone probably knew they [made a deposit] at this time of day and took advantage of it.”

Sheriff’s deputies said they found an abandoned white Chevrolet Lumina van a few blocks from the market on Somis Road. They said they believe the van, which was reported stolen in Los Angeles, was the same one used by the suspects.
