The biggest splash was made by Mariah Carey, but Reba McEntire also made an impressive debut this week in The Times’ Southern California album chart. The country star’s “Starting Over,” a collection of her versions of hit songs that McEntire says were influential in shaping her career, entered the local chart at No. 6. Meanwhile, the soundtrack to “Dead Presidents” is obviously popular among Southern California record buyers. It couldn’t crack the top 30 in the national album chart, but it’s No. 5 in the local chart.
