LA HABRA : Council Backs Veto of Nude Juice Bar
A decision by the Planning Commission to deny an operating permit for a nude juice bar has been upheld by the City Council.
After a six-hour public hearing last week at which scores of residents opposed the Pelican Theater, council members unanimously voted to uphold the commission’s decision.
Councilman James Flora said the proposal did not provide sufficient parking for customers and that was why the council voted it down.
The bar was proposed for the former bank property on the northwestern corner of Imperial Highway and Harbor Boulevard.
Bill Badi Gammoh said he bought the property for close to $1 million and will continue to fight to turn it into a juice bar, where nude dancing would be featured and no alcohol would be served. He plans to sue the city.
“I’m going to sue for big money,” Gammoh said. “I have complied with all the [city’s ordinances], and my business is the proper business for that location.”
Gammoh is suing Anaheim to open a nude juice bar there.
