Former Michigan State coach George Perles apologized for suing the university over his firing and said he is dropping all legal action against the school. Perles said he was upset and frustrated at negotiations over his dismissal when he had his attorneys file the lawsuit in August.

“I made an error in judgment and filed suit. I should have had enough patience and waited until the process was finished,” Perles said.

Michigan might find itself down to quarterback No. 3 for Saturday’s game against Indiana because sophomore Brian Griese has a bruised right shoulder and might not be able to play. Starter Scott Dreisbach has a broken thumb.

If Griese cannot play, senior Jason Carr will start and freshman Tom Brady will back him up.
