Man, 18, Detained in Trailer Park Killing
An 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fatally shooting a man outside the victim’s mobile home, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The victim, Juan Banuelos, 40, was shot at 8:20 p.m. Friday at the Blue Sky Trailer Park about an hour after the suspect, William Gonzales, had quarreled with him and his two young sons, said Deputy Jim Hellmold.
Detectives believe that the suspect, who also lives in Lancaster, returned to the mobile home with a gun and fired at Banuelos and his sons, Hellmold said.
The boys fled and escaped injury, but their father was wounded in the upper torso and died later Friday night at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, the deputy said.
After questioning witnesses at the trailer park, deputies arrested Gonzales on Saturday, Hellmold said. He is being held without bail at the sheriff’s Antelope Valley station.
