Fresno Memories

Share

As a second-generation California-born Armenian American, I too have spent many a summer day visiting relatives in Fresno (“Pita Palaces,” Sept. 10). Michael Krikorian’s words reminded me of the amazing back-yard feasts we used to enjoy as children. As the article so poignantly notes, Fresno is not a “glamorous” tourist destination, but well worth a stop for some of the most authentic Armenian cuisine this side of Mt. Ararat. On an even more personal note, my grandfather was one of the founders of the Holy Trinity Church (pictured in the article) and Richard Hagopian, a musical legend in Armenian circles, played with his band at my wedding. Needless to say, the article hit close to home.
