Pumpkins were trucked to the Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains for the fourth annual Calabasas Days Pumpkin Festival over the weekend. Although not every visitor to the two-day event walked away with one, most couldn’t resist the bright orange orbs. Some quick pumpkin facts:

* CALABASAS: The namesake city of the festival derives its name from the Spanish word for pumpkin: calabaza .

* TRUCKED IN: About 30 tons of pumpkins were brought in from the Levens farm in Oxnard.

* LARGE: The largest pumpkins available at the festival, called “Big Macs,” weigh about 300 pounds and were priced at $25. The pumpkins required a lift from a motorized cart to get to visitors’ cars.

* MEDIUM: The most popular pumpkins were the Connecticut variety, which weigh 20 to 30 pounds. They sold for $10 and could be carried to one’s car with some effort.

* SMALL: The smallest pumpkins were the sugar pumpkins that weigh two to five pounds. Those sold for $1 and could be carried in one hand.
