THOUSAND OAKS : School Seeks Warm Clothing for Needy
Students at Ladera School and their families are donating sweaters, sweat shirts and jackets to the needy Saturday.
The Conejo Valley Unified District school has collected several boxes so far for the Warm Up A Friend project, which is sponsored by the Ladera PTA.
PTA President Lisa Ricatto said she went to each classroom, urging the students to get in the giving spirit.
“I told them, ‘You can go into your closet every day and chose from five sweaters. Some of these kids don’t even have closets.’ ”
The school will box up the warm clothing at 9 a.m. Saturday and send it to the Ventura County Rescue Mission.
Anyone who wants to drop off clothing can bring it by Ladera School at 1211 Calle Almendro in Thousand Oaks during school hours today or at 9 a.m. Saturday.
