Big Night for Norris, Augusta Puts Ice Dogs Back in First, 7-4

Three days without a game did little to help the Ice Dogs, but they made up for it Thursday. Los Angeles’ newest hockey team, a member of the International Hockey League, had not played since Sunday and watched the Las Vegas Thunder take first place away from them by defeating Cleveland on Tuesday night.

Cleveland came to Los Angeles Thursday night, and the Ice Dogs got a chance to help themselves.

They did.

Los Angeles defeated the Lumberjacks, 7-4, to move back into first place in the Southwest Division in front of an announced 2,120 at the Sports Arena.

Leading the way were Patrik Augusta and Dwayne Norris, who each tied a franchise record by scoring five points.

Norris had two assists in the first period and added two goals and an assist in the second, when the Ice Dogs (7-3-1) stretched a 3-2 lead to 6-2. Augusta had three assists--two on Norris’ goals--and scored in the first and third periods.
