Bakersfield 52, Glendale 20--Nathan Sparks passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, and Mike Gray had two touchdown runs to lead Bakersfield (6-1, 4-1, 2-0) in a North Division game at Bakersfield.
Glendale (2-5, 2-3, 1-1) took a 7-0 first-quarter lead on a four-yard touchdown pass from Aryn Hart to Rob Varnon. But Bakersfield countered with 21 consecutive points.
Sparks ran six yards to cap Bakersfield’s first touchdown drive, and Shawn Lane added a six-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.
Gray, the state’s leading rusher, ran three yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Gray rushed for 91 yards in 19 carries.
Hancock 56, Ventura 27--The Bulldogs scored 28 consecutive points to open the second half and buried the host Pirates (1-6, 1-6, 0-2) in a North Division game at Ventura High.
Hancock (6-1, 5-1, 2-0), ranked No. 16 in the state, received a pair of touchdown runs from Reggie Etheridge in the third quarter.
Ventura’s Elihu Vann had touchdown runs of five and two yards. Vann rushed for 27 yards in 13 carries and Pirate quarterback Erick Negri completed 19 of 41 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown.
