In his insightful Counterpunch piece, “Education and Entertainment Can Coexist” (Calendar, Oct. 16), Larry Cedar gives us too much credit by asserting that “A.J.’s Time Travelers” is brought to you by the creators of “Beakman’s World.”

“A.J.’s” was written by four of the “Beakman” writers, and shares an editor and a composer with “Beakman’s World.” None of us who worked on both series can take credit for creating “Beakman’s World” or bringing you “A.J.’s Time Travelers.”

The “Beakman’s World” television series, which is based on Jok Church’s comic strip, was the product of a magnificent collaboration between producers, writers, actors, directors, animators, editors, musicians, sound technicians, crew people, interns and the children who wrote letters to Beakman. Creative credit cannot be given to any single part of this team, which was put together and led by our executive producer, Mark Waxman.

Likewise, credit for “A.J.’s Time Travelers” is due to an almost entirely different group of enormously talented professionals who were led by Gianni Russo, Nancy Haas and the visionary men of Gold Coast Productions.

It was my distinct pleasure to be a part of both teams. Thanks for the compliments, Larry!
