ORANGE : Judge Delays Ruling on Ambulance Injunction

Share

A Superior Court judge put off ruling Tuesday on whether to issue a temporary injunctionblocking the city from operating its own ambulance service.

CareLine California, one of two companies that had provided the city’s emergency ambulance service until last week, had sought the injunction. The company’s attorneys argued that, according to its own codes, the city must bid along with private companies if it wants to provide service.

City attorneys, however, say that the code requires competitive bidding only if a contract is to be awarded to a private company.

Judge Michael Brenner heard arguments from both sides and is expected to rule within the next few days.

The city’s Fire Department has been providing emergency transportation since Oct. 25.
