Arleta : Intruder Killed by Resident Identified
Los Angeles police on Thursday identified a man who they said was fatally shot when he startled a resident of an Arleta home that he intended to burglarize.
The suspect, Peter Labastide, 26, was killed Wednesday morning after he allegedly broke into a home in the 9800 block of Arleta Avenue, LAPD Detective Frank Bishop said.
The resident of the home, whose name was not released, shot Labastide after he grabbed a sharp object and advanced on him, Bishop said. Detectives will present the case to the district attorney’s office for review, but it appears to be a case of self-defense, police said.
