Woman Killed as Her Car Hits Trees
A 56-year-old Orange woman was killed early Sunday when she lost control of her car and hit several trees, police said.
The victim, Anita Vasicek, was driving east on Santiago Canyon Road east of Hewes Street about 12:30 a.m. when she left the roadway and hit several trees, one of them head-on, Officer Jack Nanigian of the Orange Police Department said.
Vasicek was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she was pronounced dead, Nanigian said.
An investigation is underway, Nanigian said, but the cause of the accident remains unknown.
It appears that drugs, alcohol or speed were not a factor, he said.
