HUNTINGTON BEACH : Update : Follow-up on the news : Farmers Market, Fair to Move to New Site

Share

The popular downtown farmers market and arts and crafts fair may be moving to another site on Main Street as soon as this spring.

The Friday afternoon market and fair are now held on a vacant site at the southwest corner of Main Street and Orange Avenue.

But a condominium and commercial development is planned for the site, and construction could begin soon, said Tom Andrusky, assistant project manager for the city’s economic development department.

Andrusky said that a conditional-use permit application has been filed with the city to move the market and fair to another site on Main Street between Walnut Avenue and Town Square Lane. He said the application probably will go before the Planning Commission in January.

The market and fair have been very popular and have helped the city to meet its goal of drawing more people to the downtown area as a boost for downtown merchants.

The market and fair will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Fridays through the winter. Information: (714) 536-5542.
