Land Use

I doubt that any economists were included in the study mentioned in “Sprawl Threatens Central Valley” (Oct. 26). Rather than let the landowner decide if he wants to farm the land or sell it, the “researchers are urging politicians and planners” to decide it for him. The learned gentlemen who conducted this study have come very far for folks who put so much trust in government, and who refuse to believe that a piece of land is worth what someone will pay for it.

The conclusions of this study no doubt will appeal to the politicians and planners, who will enjoy this added power.
