Industrial Noise Draws Complaints in Costa Mesa
Dozens of residents of the California Sea Breeze Homes turned out Monday night to complain about noise from the industrial zone surrounding their neighborhood.
The development on the west side of Costa Mesa abuts an industrial park of woodworking and mechanics shops.
Residents said complaints about noise at night and early in the morning have been repeatedly ignored by city officials. City Manager Allan L. Roeder said the city has been looking into the issue, however, and is weighing its options.
Roeder said the city plans to meet with residents and business owners to try to forge a solution to their concerns, but the choices are limited.
“We can’t make the industrial complex not be one,” Roeder said. “That was a vacant lot at the time the homes were built.”
