COLLEGE WATER POLO : Bailey’s Four Goals Boost UC Irvine Past Long Beach
Ryan Bailey scored four goals to help UC Irvine, ranked third in the nation, defeat seventh-ranked Long Beach State, 13-6, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation water polo game at Belmont Plaza Tuesday.
Matt Maunz and Jeff Andrews each added three goals for the Anteaters (14-5), who rebounded after a 9-8 overtime loss to Pepperdine Saturday.
Irvine led, 3-0, after one quarter but Long Beach rallied to make it, 6-4, at halftime. Then Irvine took control by scoring four consecutive goals in the third quarter.
