Youth, 17, Arrested in Stabbing Deaths of His Mother, Brother
A 17-year-old Highland Park youth was arrested Monday on suspicion of killing his mother and younger brother.
The youth stabbed his 36-year-old mother and 13-year-old brother early Monday, Los Angeles police said. He then attempted to kill his 5-year-old sister, but she escaped unharmed.
Police did not release details of what might have led to the murders.
A family member discovered the bodies and called authorities. Police arrested the suspect a short time later at a friend’s house.
He was booked on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder and taken to Juvenile Hall.
His sister now is in the custody of her grandfather, police said.
