Officials want to prosecute a 16-year-old Fillmore boy charged with attempted murder as an adult for allegedly stabbing another teen-ager numerous times during a dispute earlier this week.

George Estrella, 18, was stabbed in the chest and torso area Monday night but is expected to recover, Santa Paula Memorial Hospital officials said.

Investigators said they believe Estrella threw something at the suspect’s car about 9:45 p.m. near Clay and Main streets in Fillmore, prompting the dispute.

The 16-year-old was arrested a short time later as he tried to flee the scene, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.

He was arraigned Wednesday in Ventura County Juvenile Court, and a court date to determine if he should be tried as an adult was set for Dec. 6.
