Bicycle to Be Donated for Police Storefront
Ventura’s downtown-beach police storefront doesn’t open until next month, but it will soon get a set of wheels.
Storefront Officers Terri Vujea and Ron Rojo will take delivery of a specially equipped mountain bicycle courtesy of Ventura merchants and community groups.
Leadership Ventura, a Chamber of Commerce program, provided most of the money for the bike, which was ordered on Friday. A local bicycle shop is providing the black-and-white bike below cost. Contributions from the Ventura/Oxnard Bike Club, Ventura Kiwanis and downtown merchants made up the balance.
Leadership Ventura is helping to staff and pay for the storefront mini-station, which is scheduled to open by Christmas at 309 E. Main St. Donations of money and supplies are being sought. Call Vujea at 339-4400, Ext. 1676 for more information.
