Roadrunners Beat Ice Dogs, 4-1, as Storr Turns Aside 27 Shots

Chris Snell and Philippe Boucher each scored twice and had an assist and Jamie Storr made 27 saves as the Phoenix Roadrunners beat the Ice Dogs, 4-1, in an International Hockey League game Saturday night.

The teams play again today at 3 p.m. at the Sports Arena.

The Roadrunners (9-9-2) broke a scoreless tie with three goals in the second period. Snell and Boucher both scored power-play goals and Boucher added an even-strength goal with 1:35 remaining in the period. Snell also scored in the third.

Storr, with the Kings most of the season until Kelly Hrudey was activated, had a shutout until Wayne Strachan scoring on a power play with 8:36 remaining.

The win was Storr’s third in as many starts for the Roadrunners, who won their third straight game.

Chuck Thuss had 31 saves, but took the loss in goal for the Ice Dogs (11-9-2).
