LA PALMA : Council OKs Revised Fire, Building Codes
- Share via
To conform with changes in recommended national standards, the city has revised its fire and building codes for new construction.
The City Council last week gave final approval to new laws that city staffers said will redefine plumbing and electrical standards.
The new electrical code prohibits aluminum as a wiring conductor.
The new laws also require that roof coverings be “fire retardant” and that “metal roofing shall not be installed over existing roof materials.”
Also, large homes--those more than 5,500 square feet--must now be equipped with sprinklers.
