COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Basheer Sparks UC Irvine Women to Second Consecutive Road Victory

Allah-mi Basheer had 17 points and 10 rebounds as UC Irvine defeated Cal State Sacramento, 69-55, Tuesday in Sacramento.

The Anteaters (2-0) are off to their best start since 1985 and for the first time, Irvine has started the season with two consecutive victories on the road.

The Anteaters led by as many as 20 points in the second half. Leticia Oseguera added 13 points and Tamara Thomas 12 for Irvine, which shot 47% from the field.

Irvine forced 32 turnovers and Cal State Sacramento (0-3) shot 34% from the field.

In another nonconference game:

Chapman 75, Cal Lutheran 54--Forward Monique Sweet scored 20 points, making nine of 12 from the field, including two three-pointers, for the Panthers (2-2).

Guard Flo Luppani had 12 assists and three three-pointers for Chapman, which outrebounded Cal Lutheran, 54-37.
