Update : Follow-up on the news : HUNTINGTON BEACH : Checkpoint Pulls In 18 Drunken Drivers
A recent checkpoint to apprehend drunken drivers resulted in 18 arrests, officials said, a record for the city.
The Los Angeles County Peace Officers Assn. organized a regional checkpoint Nov. 17 for all of Southern California.
Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley police departments staffed a checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Pacific Coast Highway, east of Huntington Street.
In addition to the drunken drivers arrested, 20 cars were impounded, 751 vehicles were stopped, and 40 field sobriety tests were administered.
