FULLERTON : 5% Pay Increase OKd by College Trustees

Teachers, administrators and other employees of the North Orange County Community College District will receive 5% pay raises under contracts approved this week by district trustees.

The raises, most of which are retroactive to July 1, will be the first in six years for some district managers such as deans and vice chancellors.

One trustee, Chris Loumakis, opposed the amount of the increase, saying at Tuesday’s board meeting that 5% “is too risky and too imprudent.”

Other board members, however, supported the measure, which was approved on a 5-1 vote. Said Trustee Barry J. Wishart: “I believe a pay raise, even a 5% pay raise, is modest.”
