Wetlands Editorial’s Timing Questioned
* I find it interesting in the Nov. 19 editorial, “Delaying Wetlands Review Is Fairest Move,” that The Times is taking a position on the side of the county and the developer, Koll Co.
When the citizens [and] city councils of Huntington Beach and Seal Beach asked the county Board of Supervisors for a delay on their vote, The Times was nowhere to be found. The county has had more time than the Coastal Commission to evaluate this development over the years [and] present its side. Now, because they are in danger of losing the vote, they want more time.
I find it hypocritical of The Times that professes an environmental attitude on most issues to now take the side of the county and the developer. We should all play by the same rules, and if the county planning staff didn’t do its work adequately, then they should be treated the same as the residents surrounding the area of Bolsa Chica were treated by the Board of Supervisors.
