VENTURA : Police to Honor Service, Excellence

The Ventura Police Department will honor civilians and police personnel for their contributions to the community at a noon ceremony Thursday.

Chief Richard Thomas will be on hand to present awards, including the city’s Certificate of Excellence, which will be given to five citizens whose names will not be revealed until the ceremony.

Retiring Cpl. Dan Elliot will be recognized, as will Cpl. Tom Burke, who has served the department for 40 years. Other service awards will be given, as well as plaques for the Supervisor of the Year and the Support Employee of the Year.

The ceremony will take place at the Police-Fire Headquarters, 1425 Dowell Drive, Ventura.
