Agoura Hills : Playground Updated With New Equipment
The city of Agoura Hills will hold a dedication ceremony Dec. 13 for the newly renovated Forest Cove Park.
The newly installed playground equipment, which brings the park in compliance with the federal Americans With Disabilities Act, cost $49,000, paid for through federal community development block grants, said Audrey Brown, the city’s director of community services.
The equipment, resembling a tiny village, with slides and other play features, is set in sand, she said. A rubberized path leads up to the play area to allow wheelchair access and the equipment has a handrail and a special platform designed to accommodate people with special needs, she said.
In March, the city completed the first phase of its efforts to bring city parks into compliance with the 1990 law with changes at Sumac Park on Calmfield Avenue. That project involved repaving the parking lot and adding new play and picnic equipment. That phase, Brown said, cost $75,000.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at Forest Cove Park, 5451 Forest Cove Lane, will be held at 4 p.m.
