Johnson Leads Pepperdine Past CS Northridge
Marques Johnson scored 32 points and Will Weir had 23, including 11 rebounds, to give Pepperdine a 90-81 victory over Cal State Northridge at the Matadome Tuesday night.
Northridge (1-3) led at halftime, 43-40, but the Waves pulled ahead at 13:27 in the second when guard Tezale Archie sank a three-pointer to put Pepperdine up, 54-53.
The Matadors pulled ahead at 8:40 of the second on a layup by guard Trenton Cross, making it 63-62. But Johnson’s running jump at 4:37 tied the game, and the Waves (3-2) pulled ahead on a hook shot by Weir and a running jump from Archie.
