Time to Stop Dumping on Lake View Terrace

Share

* The citizens of Lake View Terrace are getting awfully tired of taking the city’s trash at Lopez Canyon Landfill. Our people want the dump closed as was promised, by February 1996.

The Department of Sanitation says that the city saves $48 million in a five-year period as compared to the other alternatives. In my opinion this saving could be doubled if each councilmanic district would take its own trash. Almost all of them have some vacant land that could be used as a dump.

A story as a comparison: In ancient times, a soldier could require any citizen to carry his armor for one mile. Lake View Terrace has been carrying the city’s trash for more than 20 years.

Let’s be fair. No more tricks. Close the dump in 1996.
