Ventura Home Savings Branch Robbed
A man claiming to have a gun robbed a Ventura branch of Home Savings of America on Saturday, bringing to 44 the number of bank robberies in Ventura County this year, authorities said.
The suspect was described as a stocky, unshaven Latino man in his mid-30s, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds, officials said.
He was wearing a long-sleeved, dark green shirt.
The man entered the bank at 3310 Telegraph Road about 12:30 p.m. and passed the teller a note demanding money, authorities said. He also indicated that he had a gun. The bandit left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, officials said.
The same bank was robbed in September, FBI Agent Gary Auer said. One man is being held on suspicion of committing that and one other Ventura County bank robbery.
