The Moorpark City Council and the City Planning Commission will hold a special joint meeting Wednesday to go over a new traffic survey and plans for the city’s downtown.

The meeting will cover a traffic study for the proposed Morrison-Fountainwood development. The development, formerly called the JBR development, calls for from 475 to 712 homes to be built on 475 acres on the north side of the city east of Walnut Canyon Road and west of College Heights Drive.

Planners are looking at which downtown route will become the major artery into the the housing development, said Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason.

“It looks like Spring Road is a possibility they are thinking about,” Lawrason said.

The meeting will also cover preliminary information on the city’s specific plan for its downtown. The plan is meant to map the future development along the city’s historic High Street, and should cover parking, architecture and possibly new building codes.

“It’s going to cover the whole nine yards,” Lawrason said.

The meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers, located at 799 Moorpark Ave.
