A 37-year-old man who hired an exotic dancer was shot to death early Monday after he got into an argument with her, according to police, who later arrested the woman’s bodyguard.

Maurice Paul Bourg of Buena Park was shot once in the chest outside his home in the 6800 block of Via Norte Circle about 2:30 a.m., Police Sgt. LLoyd Schwengel said. Hours later, Lawrence David Sanchez, 26, of Orange, was arrested on suspicion of murder in Bourg’s death.

The dancer, whose identity was not available, was released after questioning because she is not considered a suspect, Schwengel said.

Bourg’s two roommates came home between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. and were sitting down to dinner when the door bell rang. An exotic dancer entered the home while her bodyguard stood outside, Schwengel said.

The dancer and Bourg went into his room and an argument began, prompting Sanchez to enter the house with a handgun, police said.

The bodyguard told the woman to leave with him and as they walked from the house, Bourg grabbed a canister of a chemical self-defense spray and followed them outside, according to authorities.

Sanchez turned around and fired at least two shots, one of which struck Bourg in the chest, Schwengel said.

Bourg staggered back into the home, told his roommates he had been shot, then went back outside and collapsed, Schwengel said. He died at the scene.

The woman, who was sitting in the car when the shots were fired, and the bodyguard fled.

Investigators arrested Sanchez about 10 a.m. at his home, where they found a 9-millimeter handgun believed to have been the weapon with which Bourg was shot, police said.
