Longtime resident Charles Robertson was chosen to replace John Palme on the city’s Planning Commission.

Robertson was selected from 10 candidates because of his record of volunteerism, Mayor Joe Erickson said.

“He is well respected and has been involved in the community for a long time,” Erickson said.

Robertson is an 18-year resident of Costa Mesa and a regular visitor to City Council meetings in his previous capacity as president of the Mesa Verde Homeowners Assn. After serving as the group’s president for three years, Robertson recently left the post.

Robertson said he will approach the position of planning commissioner with the goal of being fair to all the parties, including homeowners and business owners.
