“In the last few years the Jewish community in the Valley has been growing enormously,” said Roni Blau, who will be the director of the new office.

There are an estimated 240,000 Jews living in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding area, she said. Many, she said, live in the West Valley.

The organization was founded in 1913. Among other things, it helps victims of hate crimes, provides training in combating hate crime to law enforcement agencies, organizes educational programs in schools and monitors extremist activities.
