Pepperdine takes a three-game winning streak to Santa Barbara for the first of five consecutive road games. The Waves were sharp in a 99-88 victory over Weber State last Saturday, shooting a season-best 58.1%, including 69.7% in the second half when they scored 67 points to pull away. It was Pepperdine’s highest-scoring game since the 1992-93 season. Forward Bryan Hill led the Waves with a career-best 25 points and leads the team with a 16.6 average. Guard Marques Johnson, whose three-point shooting has sparked Pepperdine in several games, averages 16.3 points. Guard Gerald Brown (15.6 average) sprained his right ankle against Weber State but is expected to play tonight. Santa Barbara is coming off an 83-73 loss to Loyola Marymount last Saturday, in which the Gauchos shot a dismal 38%. Pepperdine will have to contend with the perimeter games of guard Lelan McDougal and center Mark Flick, who are each shooting 44.5% from three-point range. McDougal averages 18.8 points, Flick 17.3. Santa Barbara beat the Waves last season, 70-63.
