Kudos to Bernson for His Landfill Stand
As a 15-year constituent of Councilman Hal Bernson, I certainly have not always agreed with all of his decisions. As a longtime resident of Northridge, whether or not our city decides to close Lopez Canyon Landfill will not affect me personally.
I am writing because I want to commend Bernson for taking a stand in upholding the principals of truth, integrity and fulfilling one’s commitments in connection with the City Council’s earlier promise to close Lopez Canyon. (“Panel Deadlocks on Dump Extension,” Dec. 6).
If council members now vote to allow the facility to continue and, in effect, as Bernson pointed out, fail to keep their word, future decisions and representations made by them will be looked upon with skepticism and distrust.
