SIMI VALLEY : Raises Proposed for 2 City Officials

Simi Valley’s city manager and city attorney each could get 2% raises added to their six-figure salaries if the City Council approves the increases tonight.
City Manager Mike Sedell and City Atty. John Torrance both underwent the same type of performance reviews last week that all city employees receive. But because they were appointed by the council, the panel must vote publicly on any change in their salaries.
The proposed 2% raises include a 0.96% cost-of-living increase for each official.
Sedell, who was appointed in June, earns a monthly $9,000 salary. But coupled with benefits, insurance and car costs, his salary package is worth $144,852 a year. His raise would bring his yearly earnings to $147,012.
Torrance earns a monthly salary of $9,334, which, coupled with insurance, car costs and other benefits, amounts to $148,152 a year. That would rise to $150,392 a year with the 2% raise.
