CAMARILLO : Recreation Panel Seeking Applicants

Share

The Camarillo City Council is seeking applications for its Youth Advisory Council, a panel of teenagers and adults charged with creating recreational opportunities for children.

Up to 17 volunteers will be appointed, including at least six adults and six children between ages 12 and 18.

The City Council created the panel earlier this year after a three-hour town hall meeting on youth recreation. Officials hope the panel will assist programs and activities provided by nonprofit groups.

Applicants must live, work or attend school in the Camarillo area. The panel will meet at least once a month and report to the City Council.

Program coordinator Chris Sanborn said she has received only seven applications but expects more in the next few weeks.

Interviews will be conducted next month by a committee appointed by the council, and the youth panel’s initial meeting will be held in February.

Applications must be received at City Hall no later than Dec. 29 or postmarked before Jan. 2, 1996. For more information, call 388-5349.
