Judge Fines Defense Lawyers Over Rapper’s Tardiness

Share

Two defense attorneys in the Snoop Doggy Dogg murder trial were fined $200 each Monday because their clients showed up two hours late for court last week, leaving the jury waiting.

The defense tried to explain the tardiness as a simple misunderstanding. Attorney David Kenner, who was hospitalized for a back injury last week, said he had mistakenly told the rapper and his former bodyguard that they didn’t have to go to court Wednesday because the trial would be halted due to his illness.

But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Paul G. Flynn, who has warned the defendants on several occasions that he would not tolerate tardiness in his courtroom, ordered Kenner and attorney Donald Re to pay the fines by Thursday.
