Gallery to Exhibit African American Art

An exhibit featuring the work of 27 contemporary African American artists from Southern California begins Jan. 14 at the Brea Gallery.

The presentation will include about 75 two- and three-dimensional pieces depicting the political, social and economic lives of African Americans, gallery officials said.

Cecil Fergerson, a 35-year curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, will be the guest curator.

The gallery is at the Brea Civic & Cultural Center, 1 Civic Center Circle. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Regular admission is $1. Information: (714) 990-7730.
