Justice Dept. Reviews Options After A-12 Ruling: The agency said it is considering whether to appeal a ruling in favor of General Dynamics Corp. and McDonnell Douglas Corp. in their long court battle over cancellation of the Navy’s A-12 stealth jet. Department spokesman Carl Stern said government lawyers were reviewing the ruling by U.S. Federal Claims Judge Robert Hodges and were trying to determine the next step, including a possible appeal. Stern was unable to say when a decision would be made in a case that could cost the Defense Department $2 billion or more. Hodges rejected Pentagon arguments that the two defense firms misled the Navy by concealing information, and ruled that the government should be held responsible for the program’s 1991 cancellation.
