Kansas student Tom Airey had an unfair advantage at halftime of the Jayhawks’ game against UCLA.

He had a basketball in his hands and was behind the three-point line.

Airey was one of three students randomly selected to compete in a three-point shooting contest at halftime of the Jayhawks’ game against UCLA on Dec. 2. The winner got a T-shirt and would be eligible for the contest final.

For Airey, it was child’s play. He made 276 three-pointers while playing at Capistrano Valley, the second most in Orange County history.

Airey, who played one year at Loyola Marymount, made six of 12 to advance to the final. On Feb. 19, the winners square off at halftime of the Nebraska game. The grand prize is a trip for spring break.

“I’ll be ready,” Airey said.
