Sherman Oaks : Boy’s Injuries Spur Child Abuse Inquiry

Los Angeles police detectives began a child abuse investigation Tuesday into injuries suffered by an 18-month-old boy whose parents said he was knocked unconscious by a falling television set, authorities said.

The child was in fair condition Tuesday.

About 10:30 p.m. Monday, paramedics took the boy from his home in the 13400 block of Magnolia Boulevard to UCLA Medical Center, LAPD Det. Mitch Robbins said. The child’s parents said a big-screen television fell onto him, Robbins said.

But officers and doctors found that the child’s injuries “were a little inconsistent” with the parents’ story, and passed the case along to the LAPD Abused Child Unit, Robbins said. The couple’s other two children are in protective custody, he added.
