Armed Robber Holds Up Huntington Bank
A man in his 30s robbed a bank teller at gunpoint and fled with an undisclosed amount of money Wednesday morning, marking the 16th bank robbery in the city in the last two months, authorities said.
About 9:45 a.m., a man entered the Tokai Bank of America in the 19000 block of Brookhurst Street, brandished what appeared to be a handgun behind a jacket and demanded cash, Police Sgt. Barry Case said.
The teller handed over all of the money from a cash drawer, and the man left the bank through the south door and east through the parking lot to a faded, rusty brown car, Case said.
Customers reported seeing the man drive onto Garfield Avenue and southbound through a residential area.
He was described as white, 5 feet 7, 150 pounds, with light brown hair and a slight growth of beard. He was wearing a “very dirty-looking” light brown jacket, light pants with a black belt and a brown baseball cap.
