OXNARD : Boy, 14, Shot in Neck, Released From Hospital
A 14-year-old Oxnard boy was released from St. John’s Regional Medical Center on Thursday after being shot in the neck the night before near his home, officials said.
According to police, the youth was walking in the vicinity of California and East Cedar streets in Oxnard just before 11 p.m. Wednesday when a car stopped near him. An unidentified passenger got out of the vehicle and yelled something, officials said.
The victim ran and heard three shots, police said. He was struck in the neck once and continued running to his residence.
Oxnard Police Sgt. Randy Coates said investigators were trying to determine whether the incident was gang-related.
